The Bully

the bully needs an enemy
an enemy of slight degree
somebody weaker than he
to prove his virility
the bully needs a little foe
a victim for the muscle show
someone who will take the bait
so he can retaliate

(chorus)
they say the bully always lives in the short run
but me I live in the long run
the relativity of time
will leave the bully behind

see the bully in the playground
spreading the misery around
daddy beat him up last night
now he’s gotta get a winnable fight
so he’s looking for a snotty little kid
so he can do it like his old man did
spiralin’ down to the bottom of the floor
until you just just can’t take it anymore

(chorus)

the bully’s all grown now
he’s got an army of his own now
with all money and the power
givin’ orders from a big tall tower
to the troops in the sideshow
who can’t wait to go
to where the good red blood is stored
they know how to do it they’ve done it before

(chorus)

see the fire and ash now
cities gettin’ trashed now
the rights are broken, rules are torn
dead end time, it’s a perfect storm
for the man in the middle
like Nero with a fiddle
playing a funeral tune
and there’s blood in eye of the man in the moon

(chorus)

I can only speak for myself
I can’t speak for anybody else
but I’m tired of watchin’ people swoon
for some big shot suckin’ all the air out of the room
and I will live to see the day
when the tables turn the other way
see the bully’s little feet of clay
‘cause he’s only a coward anyway

(chorus)
